More Than a Coaster: The Meaning Behind Our Collectible Art Pieces

MDF and Acrylic coasters by Creative Coupling

At Creative Coupling, every product begins as a feeling.

Before it becomes a painting on your wall, a coaster on your table, or a magnet on your fridge, it first exists as a moment in someone’s life, a memory, a difficult season, a moment with family, or a quiet return to self for our artist Shweta Wagaralkar.

For the artist behind the brand, art has never been just decoration. It has been a companion through uncertainty, healing, and transformation. Many of these works were created during the past year, a period deeply intertwined with her cancer journey. In moments where life felt overwhelming, art became a way to breathe.

Each art piece and collection has a story to tell. Our Collectible Art Coasters, made with MDF and acrylic and sold in sets of four, carry stories of their own.

Sunflowers, tulips, gardens, greens, these were not random aesthetic choices. They represented calm. They offered softness in difficult moments. They were places for mind to stroll in when life felt loud. The Trippy Sunflower piece speak directly to this relationship with nature and stillness. We often picture flowers blooming brightly under daylight, filled with vivid colours and warmth, but have you ever wondered what flowers might look like under the quiet mystery of the night? The Tulip Art Coaster captures exactly that for you.

Some works emerged from joy and family.

The Lineup Art Coaster Set brings a more playful and instinctive energy into the collection. Inspired by experimentation with tools and colour layering, the artwork evolved naturally into a lively exploration of line-up art.

The Rainbow Coaster was created alongside her sister during a watercolor session, part lesson, part bonding moment, part memory-making. The imperfect brush textures remain visible in the final product because perfection was never the point. The joy of creating and memory was the art. Later the art also became a representation of artist's queer expression and was also turned into a beautiful Rainbow tote bag!

These artworks are not just sold as products; they live in her home, carried and displayed by loved ones who have supported her throughout difficult times. In that sense, every piece holds not only artistic value but emotional inheritance.

The Mustard Art Coaster was born in the middle of an artistic slump. Brushes were set aside and the art was born through hands. What emerged was layered, textured, and unexpectedly beautiful, a reminder that creativity often survives even when we feel disconnected from it.

Then there is Van Gogh’s Sun, a deeply personal reinterpretation inspired by Van Gogh’s mental health journey and emotional resonance as an artist. It transforms the familiar visual language of The Starry Night into something brighter yet equally layered: a sun that still carries the emotional weight of the night.

At Creative Coupling, every coaster, art print, tote bag, and collectible piece is created with the belief that art should feel personal. These are pieces designed not only to decorate spaces, but to hold emotion and bring warmth into everyday life. Whether you are drawn to floral art, expressive abstract designs, or meaningful handmade home décor, each collection invites you to carry a small story into your own space.
